Facing charges of refusing a breathalyzer in the state of Georgia can be very intimidating. Many understand they have the right to refuse, but what they don’t know is that by doing so, they are breaking a law. Sound like a paradox? It’s the truth.

Georgia has an Implied Consent law. As a driver in Georgia, you have implicitly consented to any chemical test the police choose to give you, including a breathalyzer test. Although you have the right to refuse the test, if you do, the violation of your implied consent will result in penalties such as a suspended license. Many drivers in Georgia have no idea that they have, by driving, given their consent to chemical tests until they refuse a breathalyzer examination, and finding yourself in this situation can be alarming. It is imperative for you to contact an experienced Atlanta DUI attorney, especially if the officer did not tell you about the Implied Consent law before you refused the breathalyzer test, as is required by law.

Refusing the breathalyzer is by no means a way to escape a DUI. In fact, it is looked at by the court as an admission of guilt. Breaking the implied consent law can lead to a license suspension of usually about one year. Acting quickly to obtain council is important, as you have ten days to request an administrative hearing regarding your license privileges. Upon refusal of your appeal, the arresting officer files paper work for a suspension that will take effect 31 days after the arrest. However, if you obtain an Atlanta DUI lawyer and attend the administrative hearing, your defense team may be able to retain your privileges.

The Ford Law Firm is a group of elite Atlanta DUI attorneys that can help. With extensive experience in criminal law, their professional staff is accustomed to dealing with these issues. The lawyers at the Ford Law Firm are not only knowledgeable but respectful: unlike other Atlanta DUI lawyers, they abide by a stringent philosophy. Staggered legal fees can assist you in getting the help you deserve. The team at the Ford Law Offices will aggressively fight for you and work hard to uphold your professional reputation. Everyone deserves a great criminal defense attorney that they can depend on when times are bleak.

From the number of dmv offices I’ve gone to, I think it’s really the luck of the draw. If you happen to get a pleasant rep, you’re lucky — if you get a creep, well — do your business and leave.

We generally go to the office in Marietta by Piedmont Road; we’ve had people who are incredibly nice, and others who are rude.

Perhaps your best bet is to go to the office that’s most convenient to you relatively early in the day, before it gets too busy and while the staff is still in good spirits.
